What do you think of Lei as a name?

Thanks!

I was thinking of it as a middle name... pronounced Lay

I found it means flower in Hawaiian and graceful in Japanese.

Lei as a name is fine. Plus it doesn't matter what other people think. It's about why you chose that name. Maybe it had a deep meaning to you. If it is a child that you are giving to name to they will most-likely love it as well as the reason why you chose it, which makes it all the more better.

Lei may refer to:

* Lei, the singular formal form of "you" in Italian (informal : tu)
* Lei, the plural form of Leu, the name of two currencies. See Romanian leu and Moldovan leu.
* Lei (Hawaii), a Hawaiian flower necklace
* Lei (surname), a Chinese name
* Lei, Italy, a town in Sardinia
* Lei Fang, a character in the Dead or Alive game series
* Lei Wulong, a character in the Tekken game series
* Lei (magazine), an Italian magazine
* Lei, the Portuguese language word meaning "law"
* L.e.i., a clothing company

Well i suppose it is a name after all...

The problem with that, pretty as it is, is that she will go through life with people not knowing how to pronounce it.

Mine is Marlyne and the "y" throws people every time. I have been called Marilyn,Merlin,Marlyn, and some letters come to Mr.Teachers mispronounced it and I did not answer when called on and got reprimanded for it!

As others have said, she will be teased unmercifully by others in pronouncing it "lay".
Not enough parents stop to think down the line what the child's name might do to them for years to come.

Mmmm no I would not choose that as a name. To me, it is a floral garland, to be worn on around the neck or head. Lei is also pronounced: lay. I would rather go with a name like Lelani or something with another syllable.

Lei is a very Asian name. So, it gives off a very exotic aura, you know. Oh! What the heck! I like it because it's the pet name of my good friend before. It's really very pretty you know.

You have to realize that kids are mean and they are not going to care that the name is spelled lei. What they are going to care about is that it sounds like lay.Try to imagine the teasing the poor child will go through.
