Why is age such a big deal in today's society? I know 40 year olds that are less mature and have less common sense than I do, and I'm only 14. People who have had REAL problems grow up faster than the people who have had everything handed to them on a silver platter, and that has nothing to do with age. Maturity and general intelligence should be the only things that matter. Age shouldn't. So why does it? If you think about it, when older folk look down on younger people, it's almost as bad as racism or sexism. Because your generalizing an entire group of people based on prior experience with a few individuals of that "group."

It is the same in reverse! Why is it that so many in the younger generation think that life stops when you reach 40? Or we are too old to understand the music, clothes, fads and choices available to the under 20 crowd?
We middle agers are also looked down on by younger folk and disrespected by so many of them that have had everything handed to them .............LOL!
No one should be judged by age alone! I agree with what you are saying.

wait till your 40 and ask this question again!!! It's cause they have been there and done that and yeah sure some of them grew up too fast and so they are having a little fun now! Nothing wrong with that in my book!

I agree.
I am much more mature than my 40 year old neighbor who gives every teenager that comes to her house alcohol. Her only friends are teenagers... thats sad.
