I've been seeing it more and more on here lately, and it is really starting to bug me. And this seems to some from those who call others intolerant. Yet I just got done reading several answers saying that they would do away with religion one way or another. The reason this bugs me is because I'm Roman Catholic, but I have plenty of Atheist friends, they don't say anything close to this, and actually respect others for their beliefs. And for some reason, I get the feeling that some of those people actually think that Communism is the way to go.

dickn, I was using them as an example. I know alot more Christian and other religious people that are tolerant of others. And many are my friends.

I've heard no one advocated communism. I have heard a lot of
Christians (and other religious groups) advocating theocracy however. I don't care what invisible being you worship personally. However, the minute you use your superstitions to deny me rights or freedoms, I have the right to ridicule it.

I have a PhD in ancient and comparative religions, and have studied many, many religions over the past 30 odd years. As a result I no longer call myself a Christian, but neither am I an athiest. I subscribe to no religion, as my studies have consistiently shown that all religions inevitably lead people to wars and conflict, and cause them to be intolerant and judgemental of others. I'm not surprised at your comment that your athiest friends are more tolerant of the beliefs of others. They have no theological axe to grind, no religious dogma to defend. I know with certainty that God exists and that He loves us all, regardless of our religious preferences or lack of them. If ever God was given a reason to laugh at his creations, it must be when He sees man embroiled in the trappings of organized religion. Jesus had no church, no earthly kingdom, no wealth, no status, nothing, but He was the example by which all men should live by, and no organized religion today, including Christians, lives according to the teachings of Jesus. They are all lost in the false splendor of buildings and robes and scepters, and icons, and all the artificial nonsense that man has introduced into what should be a simple, pure reverence of God... and nothing more.

well... it annoys me when religious people come on here talking about how religion solves all problems and has never done anything bad and how everyone else has no morals...
there is good and bad to religion...
it also gets annoying when someone is believing in something that has a horrible past talks about others being foolish for believing in something with a horrible past...
the modern church is about as close to the crusaders as "historical communist nations" are to communism...
if you want to judge either according to their pasts... both ideas look mind-bogglingly horrible...
but if you look at the ideas they are based on... both ideas have some merit...

They think if they get rid of Religion then they'll be free to do whatever savage barbaric thing that comes to mind without anyone making them feel bad about it.
They think by getting rid of Religion they'll be getting rid of God and if they can somehow make Him go away then they'll be free to act how ever they want free of judgment and consequences.
But their only fooling themselves because that will never happen.

Ironic, since it's the secular humanists who criticise religion for being the font of bigotry and hatred.

You just described the "Secular Progressives" a.k.a. liberals. They hate religion, actually, it's more like they hate only Christianity. And they love socialism, which is closely related to communism.

Just a couple of users. One in particular doesn't apparently recognize that exercising free speech is not "advocating a theocracy."
