The colored part is the "iris," which I think is the name of a roman goddess. To touch it,you have to outwit the reflex of the eyelid to close rapidly, preventing anything from touching it. Just about anything (except maybe eye wash from the drugstore) is going to contaminate it, but the natural eye fluid usually neutralizes it. Oh, the answer: No, I cant. Or ever have.

if you have a finger you can touch it, should you touch that part of the eye... NO NO NO!!! very bad for your eyes can cause damage to them, if your fingers are dirty you could get them infected. i've touched the white part of my eye and it doesn't bother me, i wear contacts so it happens on occasion, but you should always wash your hands pryor to messing with them. i was always told when i was younger if you have to ask whether or not you can do it chances are you can't or shouldn't.

yes i can touch all of it, but i dont make a practice of it. even a small amount of abrasion the wrong way can be bad for your eye, especially on the pupil or lens

Yup, I wear contacts so that's easy! Took me awhile to get the hang of it though.
