First of all, the correct notation in computer if you don't have microsoft equation for x raised to the power 2 (or x squared) is x^2.

So, your problem is
x^2 + 7x + 12 = 0
(x + 4)(x + 3) = 0
x = -4 or -3

So the roots are -4 or -3. From the choices of answers, (C) is the correct answer.

x^2 + 7x + 12 to find roots set equation equal to 0
x^2 + 7x + 12 = 0
(x+3)(x+4) = 0 SET either term = 0 for answer

x + 3 = 0
x = -3

x + 4 = 0
x = -4

The two ANSWERS are x= -3 and x = -4

X^2 + 7X +12 (I assume this is equal to 0).

You need two numbers whose product is 12 and whose sum is 7.

Now go and figure it out.
