It is stamped under the laminate usually in red lettering.

Meaning any certificate issued within the confines of the geograpy of N. America as opposed to Europe i.e. any state of provincial birth certificate, not a "North American" issued birth certificate. Sorry for the lack of clarity.

It`s the serial number of the certificate.Every certificate has a different number,It`s the same as money,If the serial number is not listed it`s counterfeit.It`s way to keep track of how many certificate`s are out there and who they issued to.I have 2 Ontario birth certificates ,one my mother got when i was born and the other i got when i was 18.They have two completely different numbers.Why do you want to know?

There isn't a "North American" birth certificate. In the US, every state issues its own certificate, and they all look different. Nor have I ever seen one laminated, and I've seen certificates from most states. Maybe you mean a Canadian birth certificate? I don't know what those look like or if they have a national form.

Wow! I have never seen such a thing! But then, I have never seen a North American birth certificate...Are you referring to Canada? In the U.S., each STATE issues its own birth certificates...
