In a perfect world yes the ETHICAL JUDGE would let you off because the cop was dumb enough to not pay attention while copying down state information that they are suppose to pay attention to and uphold. But you know we live in a liberal world and most cops can MURDER a person with no cause these days and face no reprimand and no charges and NOTHING HAPPENS. It is a society run a muck by these sleaze balls that call themselves public servants. They give all law enforcement and judges a bad name. THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE just like the citizens are. I would say if the ticket is small pay it. You trespassed and they gave you a ticket for that. WHAT THE HECK are these people doing nowadays. They sure aren't arresting the CRACK DEALERS. I believe that is abuse of the system and they need to find another job if they have that much time on their hands. You should ask advice for a family friend whom is a lawyer if you can find one or a friends parent whom is an attorney. They will be able to help you better. Also there is free public assistance for lawyers that can help at no charge. GOOD LUCK !!!!

This is an issue of proof. If they can prove that you are the person on the ticket, then it is still valid.

For example. If your name if John Doe and they wrote John Do. It is 2 different people. However, if the telephone and address and other details are all correct, then it just seems like a reasonable mistake.

The solution is this. You have received the ticket. Put on your best innocent face and go to where you pay the fine. Say, "look my name is John Doe and this is sent to John Do, I think you made a mistake". Either they say....of sorry it was meant for you, or they say...."oops we will try and send it to the right person, sorry"

But don't just avoid paying it, as some members of the local constabulary will pound on your door and drag your sorry **** off to the nick.

If the info on your driver's license isn't correct then you're in even more trouble as you're supposed to update any changes as soon as possible, i.e. change of address.

But since that isn't really your question here is my answer, no it won't be dropped since you gave them false information. If that were the case it would be quite easy to get off charges by knowingly providing false information.

And yes what the person above said, it would be best if you tried to remedy any misinformation as quickly as possible; if you try and hide it, or hope that it will be dropped you could get into an even worse situation.
