Notice the question, and I do agree with that he has annoying antics and saying what he does off the field is his business, I wish was correct. The problem is he makes it everyone's business. He reminds me of the guy from the Lakers, the chubby one from Standford. They should not be allowed in front of a camera when the game ends.
P.S. These antics are what makes teams from the northeast appear overly prideful. Do players not realize when their owners have bought a championship? Baseball needs to places the Yankees, Red Sox's, Mets, and Dodgers in a special we bare better then you because we are richer than you division. Because, there is no arguing those team (maybe not the Dodgers) place the most talent on the field year in and year out. All of the other teams have to pick they spots and shoot for the moon one or two years (three if they are rich) out of each decade.

I guess where you stand on this one is where you sit. Papelbon IS a bumpkin, no doubt about it, but other than that, he's just a talented young guy having a little fun while celebrating a World Championship. Yankees fans who criticize this are just showing their jealousy. To me statements and actions by A-Rod and Sheffield are far more inflammatory. And is Papelbon's game face really any worse than Pettite's?
People who say the Sox "bought" the championship should note that Papelbon makes next to nothing, and that Series MVP Mike Lowell's $9M of salary was forced on the Sox by the Marlins as part of the Beckett deal; fortunately for the Sox it worked out well. In many cases the lower paid guys (Pedroia, Lester, Ellsbury, Kielty, etc.) contributed as much or more than the high priced players. It was a TEAM effort.
All you whining haters ought to find something a little more positive to do with your lives than criticize a bunch decent guys who put it all together to win a championship. deal with it!

Jonathan Papelbon is a great closer. He does look like a serial killer on the mound and that is just fine with his fans, although it might be disquieting to the hitters. David Letterman is a known Yankee and Met fan, so Papelbon was justified in having a good time at his expense. And what did he say that was so bad? That he hoped Lowell would come back? All the Red Sox players and fans feel that way. That he would not mind it if the Red Sox acquire A-Rod? He made a joke out of it and said so that he would not have to pitch to him. That he did a jig on the mound at Fenway in his underwear? Just hope that Bob Wickman does not decide to follow suit.

Papelbon is a breath of frsh air in an increasingly stuffy sport with no personality.Alex Rodriguez writes the answers to every question he thinks he is going to be asked on a note card then he reads from them. No emotion, no enthusiasm. Where have all the Yogi Berras and Sparky Andersons and Tom LaSordas and Bill Lees gone? None of these players today have any hint of personality. So cheers for Papelbon.

The poor boy has to live with the name Jonathan Papelbon and he has to sit next to Manny in the dugout and of course there's Boston. Isn't that punishment enough?

Bitter much, lad? That's too bad...but, hey, maybe another patented Jonny Papelbon Irish jig will turn that frownie upside downie.
After Boston wins the World Series next year, the Vegas odds are very favorable that he will unveil the Funky Chicken dance, so get your camcorders ready.
Edit: Wow, yankees23, you aren't taking this whole Red Sox World Champions thing too well, are you, sport?

you kidding me? He is honest he loves to celebrate. Geeze...what? Oh wait how about being humble? (Ohhh gosh Mr; Letterman. No we really like the New York Yankees.) Nope it aint that way. The Red Sox ar'nt going to be humble. We leave that to the Yanks. Party on dance the nite away Jonathon. Love ya man. You should be so moronic sir. Oh wait I know. I watched it too. He should have dressed up. Sure at least that shows respect. A suit a nice dressy up neck tie? Greasydown combed hair. Yesssir Nosir. My fast ball isn't that fast sir. No sir my arm doesn't hurt me when I throw. No sir we were just very very lucky. I am surprised as anybody that we even won. Yes sir I think the New York Yankees are a better team than we are sir. Thankyou for letting me come on your show Mr. Letterman. Yeah your're right Jonathon just ought to stay home. God forbid people learn what a moron acts like and talks like. Lets think who should have been on Davids show instead of Jonathon. Well lets see. How about Jason. Now here is a legit hall of fame catcher and when you wtch his interviews he speaks very well. Yes of course. Anybody but Jonathon. Geeze how did anysone know he was going to be such a moron? Love ya Jonathon. If ya read this man I'm just funnin with the question a little. Have fun. See ya next year in spring training

He's a giant goober. But more annoying is his "game face" when he is on the mound looking for the sign. I can't watch him, his lip get super small and he has that Im coming face. Although he's darn good.
BUt the most annoying thing on the Sox is Manny's hair...what is up with that, and the little dew rag he wears? Is this baseball or a Marley tribute.
