I was having a discussion 2day about this issue: "is it possible for a guy and a girl to be just friends, really good and close friends, without romantic thoughts crossing their minds once in a while?...mostly for guys? can you do that? be an honest true friend with no romantic interest AT ALL!!?

I just saw a pattern here....most girls say they do believe it can happen, but most guys (some exceptions) say it´s not possible...I guess there´s no "right answer" then, is it? :s thanks 2 all of u for answering anyway! :) :)

I believe that is very possible. Especially if the two people are not attracted to each other. I have a few guy friends that are JUST friends, have never been anything more, and never will be.

I think it is possible to be close friends and absolutelly respect a pre-existing established romantic relationship/marraige. I work with a lot of women, and under the pressure of events a girls looks soon go a fair way into the background, and it becomes more workmate to workmate. I think though that there are enough exceptions to the above for a girl to be pretty carefull. Also - it is a bit insulting to a guy (or girl) if you are 'close friends' but apparently not close enough for romance - a bit contradictory.

maybe it is possible for other people. Not all people have the same feeling as everybody feels. A guy mostly feels like hanging out with girls because most of the time girls make guys happy, It does not mean if a guy and a girl who mostly hangs out they feel something for each other. But there also tendency that this may happen.

allright...it is possible if the girl is unattractive but honestly if you're that close to a girl and she is your friend, either the guy or girl are going to have some kind of feelings one way or another, it may sound wrong especially if you have a bf or gf, but its normal, human nature...and its just the fact that you guys are friends that makes u think maybe there is more, but its okay, thats what makes a friendship even better, and it doesnt mean you're cheating on ur bf or gf if u have these thoughts...its really quite normal, people shouldnt worry about this...idk

I suppose anything is possible, but realisticly, You can have that type of relationship, but at least once for even a brief second, a thought may enter your mind like "man she looks sexy in that shirt". If you have the kind of relationship your speaking of, you will dismiss the thought just as quickly, but we can't help or control the random thoughts that creap up in our minds. We're only humans, and humans have attrations to one another, its nature. What makes the difference is when we dwell on those thoughts or act on them.

ABSOLUTELY

we are not just animals.

it is hard to find a guy though that has no sexual interest in you because they would do a tree if they could, well most of them.

In fact, my fiance gave me a surprise when he wrote to me and said, "You don't know it yet but you are going to be my lady." What an impression that made! I thought we were going to be just friends but God is good and now I want him for life.

Well, I think it is possible. But, I also think that you don't come across that very often. Like I think at least one person in the friendship will have some sort of romantic interest.

yes, if both are getting sex elsewhere and aren't looking for it in each other. I have several girlfriends that are just friends. But not every guy or girl is in the position I'm in, so sometimes it's not possible.

i dont know. but why it gotta be the guy. I had a friend who was a great friend and we hung out all the time and I never wanted to be with her, no physical attraction from me at all . but after she dated a bunch of a^&holes for about three years guess who decided to want more? not me. she wanted the nice reliable guy who would treat her well . and she wouldn't let it go even though we remained friends for a long time. never touched her never will.
