if you want to upgrade to ddr2, first off you need to know how to take apart your laptop. second off, laptops take special kind of memory. third, the laptop would have to be ddr2 compatible, and I assume it isn't because you got ddr in the first place rather than ddr2. That is why personal built computers are the way to go.
in other words, you would have to buy a new laptop. No matter what everyone else tries to tell you, unless the motherboard is ddr2 capable and you have access to that specific compatible memory, you might as well get a new laptop.

If you have ddr, you can not use ddr2, the only way is if you upgrade the mother board, and that would not be worth it because you can just go out and buy a new computer far cheaper that comes with ddr2. If your system is an older one, just upgrade to a new system and save yourself lots of money. I am a repair tech and have been in business for 17 years, and I would never take on that job if one asked me to because it's not worth doing for the price it would cost, I don't rip off my customers just to make a buck, and will not advise one to do any thing thats not worth doing as a repair tech because that just plan old wrong.
