Are you sure they have VERIZON DSL and not DSL through some other provider?

Version is not lieing to you, to get DSL, you have to live within a certain distance from a hub, with my DSL provider it's 5 miles.

Ask your downstairs neighbor who their DSL provider is.

You can get it, but the problem is that you live far enough away from the CO that they (Verizon) cannot guarantee the quality of your service. In these situations, Verizon prefers not to do the insall, but if you insist and explain that you are willing to accept less than optimum service because of the distance, they will install it. Good luck!!

I bet your neighbor's service sucks. Verizon sold it to us without telling us we were too far away, and the service was horrible. I finally lied and said I had static on my phone line, just so a technician would come over and tell me what was really going on. When he did, I called Verizon and they freely admitted it.

Take Verizon's word for it and don't sign up with them. you'll never be online.

Sounds fishy to me. Perhaps you should ask them if they have a height restriction or if they just ran out of wire.
