I think Republicans are insane concidering Giuliani. The way things are devided in this country about 45% of people will vote Republican, and 45% will vote Democratic (if both parties keep all their factions together), and there's a potential 10% that can swing. If Giuliani doesn't rally the religous right and the Pro-Gun groups the Democrat is going to have a big edge. Democrats aren't going to vote for Rudy for being moderate-liberal on social issues, no way.
Any minor thing that offsets than 45/45 balance can swing an election. If it's 50% voting dem, and 40% GOP, than the GOP has to get virtually all of the possibly swing votes which obviously isn't going to happen. That in my mind is what would happen to Rudy, whether it's Hillary he's running against or someone else.

Add to that that his experience as a Mayor was less than thrilling, and that he is a serial adulterer who brought his girlfriend home to Gracie Mansion and banged her in the bedroom next to his daughters. The man is a moral sink.
This fiscal conservative has no complaint about his stance on gay rights and marriage. Further, I think any person who has worked twenty years in an ER as I have should support gun restrictions, and that we would all be better off if the illegals were paying taxes and able to fight the criminals in their midst without risking deportation.
Still, the man has no principles at all. If Bill Clinton was a cad for his tryst with Monica Lewinsky, what can we say about Rudy the faithless? What can be said about a man who has broken that many oaths?
However, the current Republican President has been as fiscally improvident as any in our nation's history, and none of the Republican candidates have discussed this classic example of political betrayal. Until one does, I will vote for whoever the Democrats nominate.
However venal and improvident they might be, they cannot combine those qualities with ignorance and stupidity as effectively as George W. Bush. It may take me a couple of decades to forgive the GOP for him.

He's not pro gay marriage...just advocates for civil unions. that may be splitting hairs, but the language of marriage does still mean something to him. As to your first point...I would defy anyone to run on a platform of anti-gay rights and not be villified. He does however have a serious problem with illegal immigration and guns.
Seriously, no third party will ever get momentum enough. We need to change the party from within as it stands or die trying.

No..He's still an honest man. Heck if he wasn't he would not continue to hold those politically suicidal opinons in the GOP. He has promised to only put constitutionalist judges on the Supreme court... I believe him. All of his opinions are only issues that the Supreme court could varey anyway. I believe that the repurcussions of not holding to the REp canidate are far to much to take chances. Giulliani would be strong on National DEfense...that's what we need right now.

In 1992, the Donkeycrat Party nominated an Arkansas Governor who was pro-death penalty, pro-NAFTA, and who denounced Sister Solja. Did it "destroy" the Donkeycrat Party?

It would be straining it to have a disguised Democrat running as the Republican nomination.

How would we accomplish this... Hitler type purging? Death camps? Whatever party or group you represent as an alternative to "conservatives" who support Juliani (and I don't) sounds a little too Fascist for me.
