Curt Schilling is a conservative Republican who campaigned for George W. Bush in 2004. John Henry has supported Democratic candidates in the past. Manny is classic apolitical. People from all over the political spectrum could cheer for the Red Sox, or the Rockies for that matter. President Bush called to congratulate the Red Sox and personally spoke to Josh Beckett and Mike Timlin who are the native Texans on the team. Despite his having worked for Bush's reelection, Schilling apparently did not get a presidential call because he is a native Alaskan. Hope that helps.

No. Most New Englanders were rooting for the Red Sox, while Coloradans were rooting for the Rockies.

Let's PLEASE not spoil something as great as baseball by dragging politics into it. But if we certainly must, I don't see where you got that; I saw an equal mix rooting for both teams.
Hey Coltsgal, it must suck to be a loser twice over! If anything, I admire Manny for that. He didn't say he wasn't going to give it his all, just that it wouldn't be the end of the world if they lost. If anything, it proves how much he loves the game.
