I like Ryan Miller a lot. I can't help it. It's unavoidable since he won the Hobey while at MSU. He could have a GAA of one hundred and I would still like him. It's sad really. Anyway, I've only caught 2 Buffalo games this season. The one against the Leafs when Thibault was in net, and Miller's shutout. So, since I haven't really been keeping track of the Sabres, I haven't noticed whether Miller has been playing well or just plain shitty. Yesterday, my friend who is a die-hard Sabres fan said to me: "I hope Ryan Miller drowns in a pool of his own vomit." So I decided to investigate the cause of his hostility and discovered that Miller's stats this season are indeed dismal. This friend and I had a long conversation last season after Biron was traded and we predicted Miller's level of play would drop this year. I was just wondering what Sabres fans thought of Miller this season. Do you think he's likely improve? Does he deserve to drown in a pool of his own vomit?

lol Lubers. That explains why I hear an echo anytime someone says "Buffalo Sabres" in this section.

That SO you mention gives him FIVE for his career. Pascal Leclaire will probably surpass his career total in the first month of the season this year. Brian Boucher once had 5 IN A ROW. He doesn't steal games is an understatement. Last year, the Sabres covered the weakness by winning alot of games 6-4. Miller sucks and Biron is a better goalie.

Morning! It seems you caught the two most difinitive games. The shut out was beautiful and Thibault took his place because Miller's cousin had died earlier that week. Aside from that, he's been very onn and off, but I don't think that's any different than a normal season.
I'm the first Sabres fan to admit I want to hit him with a brick most of the time, but he really seems out fo sorts this season. I think part of it is obviously the blow to the team with the loss fo scoreres, which obviously requires him to step up his game and keep the numbers down. Then, the next 2 games after his cousin's passing you could see it all over his face, he wasn't there, and rightfully so, I wouldn't have been either. However, since then, it seems that he's doing what he needs to do to take care of himself. It might be a slow pick up, but I think he'll get back on his game.
Personally, I was never a Biron fan, he strikes me as a weasle with a big mouth

The problem is that nobody wants to play in Buffalo. 24 hours after being eliminated from the playoffs, Drury informed the Sabres that he would NOT be back. The Sabres were never really interested in resigning Briere up to that point and by that time, the damage had been done with Briere and his agent, so by that time, the Sabres knew privately that Briere and Drury weren't coming back. And if you believe the Briere camp, the contract offer they did finally receive in the waning hours was an insult.
The Sabres were a team last year that got off to the hottest of hot starts, and from mid-December on, settled into averageness. Miller is only as good as the team in front of him. He's a very good goalie, but he's not in the class of a Brodeur, Luongo, Kiprusoff type who can steal you games. Buffalo won several games last year simply by outscoring the opposition.

Miller will improve. It is still too early in the season to come down on him that hard though I have to admit, he hasn't been playing great. He's a good goaltender who may have been a bit overrated last season-so expectations are very high for him. He has shown in the past that he can win it for Buffalo when the game is tight and a few lousy starts at the beginning of the season give me no reason to believe that he won't be win a few games as first star in the future. Defense has also been spotty, so I don't think all of the blame can be placed on him. I wouldn't start hoping for suffocation by vomit just yet. Though I don't think I'd wish that on him even if he does have a bad season.

Sorry, aside from Catherine Earnshaw most of the Sabres fans have evacuated the bandwagon here on the Yahoo! Answers hockey section like there was a plague or fire. Perhaps they are hanging out in the wrestling or gardening section.
To answer your question, Miller does not deserve to drown in a pool of his own vomit. He simply does not have as solid a team in front of him as he did last season. The Sabres inability to re-sign any of their key free-agents is taking it's toll on the team and it shows the most on the team's win/loss record and secondly in Ryan Miller's statistics.

He will improve. I don't think he is an elite NHL goaltender, but he is above average, and certainly better than he has played so far. Biron is a capable goaltender, and, as he is proving with Philly, is a potential starter. Miller was playing so well so that he could keep his spot. He knew that Buffalo would turn to Biron if it needed to. He will rebound, though. Don't worry too much about it.

Ryan Miller's cousin died recently and he was very clsoe to him. His focus has not been as sharp as it was last year. Yet. The Sabres as a team are not what they were and even if Drury/Briere still were here there would have been a dropoff. Team will get steadier and Miller is too good to not figure out what's up. Early Days. We were blinded by their great start last year..now it's back to hard work..also need stronger defense.

A pool of his own vomit? Right now, it looks like his demise is more likely to come under an avalanche of pucks.
Miller hasn't been terribly sharp for sure. He has surrendered some softies, but this team has endured a good deal of trauma and should be allowed a little slack.
These guys will get their legs under them and Miller will ultimately prove his worth. Whether that happens this season, however, is a large question mark.

Typically Buffalo fan your friend is. Last year he probably wanted Millers junk, now since he is not playing as well the guy derserves to die. And to think you fans consider yourselves the best fans in the US. HA!

And on holidays there's always the wrestling section but then they are so screwed up it's like picking a fight with the special-ed kids.
Sabres traded the wrong goalie. And Biron is motivated to prove it.
