I think some was true.Then the story telling got away from them

The Defaoe murders started the story. The son claimed he was possessed by demons or what not, when he killed each member of his family. That was his defense in court.
The second family that lived there and fled the house, they now live in Ca., that story was proved a hoax. Can't remember exactly why.
The family that lived there since have reported there were no paranormal activities going on.
The whole story started with the Defaoe murder trial, it was embellished by media & movies.
So, the answer to your question, no it is not true.

Absolutely not.Young kid killed his entire family,probably suffered from some kind of psychosis.The family that took over the house made a great big deal out of nothing.Money,fame,whatnot...
