Who agrees that they should change the name to "mainstream television".

When MTV first came out in the 80's, that's all it was. It was continuous music videos. It was awesome. All the way up to at least 1990 or early 90's as I remember because I put a vhs tape in one day to tape a music tape of mtv in 1990 for someone who didn't have cable and it was totally music videos. Ahhh, the good ole days!

They used to play music while we all slept.. I think they stopped, though. Last time I pulled an all nighter they played NEXT all night. Which has to be one of the worst concepts ever thought up by human beings.

Yes, they do on MTV2 and MTV3 they play music! As well as reality TV! Check your listings.

lol i dont i believe they display shows and cultures inspired by music every show except for the dating shows are generally music based or based in the arts
