Why do so many people value entertainment over other people?

What does the TV and/or video games do for you really?

i dont know why people watch tv, play video games, or sit on the computer while people are over. it aggrivates the hell outta me..

TV and video games entertain me on a more consistent basis than other people. I like meaningful conversation, but I hate small talk. Unfortunately, small talk is a lot more frequent than meaningful conversation. I gain no pleasure from just being around people. If I didn't need to be employed or have sex, I'd probably be a hermit.

With tv or games there is no conflict. It requires nothing from the individual. It will not get insulted if you fall asleep. It is a very lazy of way of occupying time!

People can cause conflict and require your attention. If you nod you'll get a prod. It is much more work to engage in conversation, especially with someone you don't know or don't spend a lot of time with to begin with.

So sad! Because people can also be fun to be with...if you try!

People can sit in front of the TV or play a video game and not be criticized or feel bad about themselves. This does, however, reduce the amount of constructive criticism that people recieve and limits their growth as human beings.

It does nothing but make boring life, some TV and video is OK,but people don't know how to have fun any more. Need more interactive live games.

You need both. People are fun to be with but you also need sometimes alone with your entertainment sometimes.
