this month (october) I was supposed to have my period on the 12th and the latest on the 17th, well on the 12th all I got was spotting and it was barely enough to wear a panty liner, not even a pad and the spotting barely lasted for a hour at a time. and thats all I got, so I dont think that I really had my period, but I have taken like 5 preg tests and they all came out neg and I went to the doc a couple of days ago and that test came out neg and so did the blatter infection on the urinary trac infection, so does anyone have any idea of what it could be, and today I have been cramping really really bad and not around my ovaries but like down between my legs. I have also been having some dizzy spells. my doc told me that sometimes it could take up to 3 months before the urine will show that your preg, has anyone ever gone through this or can anyone help me

First, if you get a fever, even a low-grade fever, go to an urgent care center and tell them you suspect an ectopic pregnancy. Frequently, ectopic pregnancies cause all the symptoms of normal pregnancies (frequent urination, skipped period or spotting, cramping) but since there is not in-utero implantation, the release of hormones is not significant enough to trigger a positive on a urine test. Call another doctor, or nurse practiotioner if you can find one, tell them you are experiencing signs of ectopic pregnancy and would like a blood test. If the pain gets worse, or if you get a fever, you need to do this sooner rather than later. Ectopic pregnancies, if allowed to go THREE months, can be fatal. Ectopic pregnancy can be diagnosed by an ultrasound.

If there was a clear answer, your doctor probably would have told you already.

There are a bunch of things that can make you miss a period, or have a very light one, besides being pregnant. A quick look with google turns up stress, extreme exercise, being underweight, various illnesses, and the Pill. Basically, any time your body thinks, "Wow, this really isn't a good month to start growing a baby," you can miss a period.

It may be that an egg was fertilized but didn't implant, in which case you'll probably just be fine and never find out what happened.

And of course, you could be pregnant despite the tests not showing it.

Edit -- As others have said, one possibility to worry about is ectopic pregnancy. Thumbs-down to me for not saying that to begin with. I'm no doctor, but it sounds as though things can go bad fast with ectopic pregnancy, so don't go travelling anywhere that it would be hard to get to medical care, until ectopic pregnancy has been ruled out.

In the meanwhile, if it hurts with real injury-type pain instead of just cramping sensation, or if the cramping pain is so severe that you're not sure you can tell the difference, don't tough it out. Better safe than sorry. And if your doctor keeps having you come back for more appointments when you're busy, don't blow it off.

Get a blood pregnancy test done Now! Those are early pregnancy symptoms and the cramping could be a miscarriage starting. You also may have a tubal pregnancy which can test negative, but the fallopian tube cannot expand beyond six weeks of a pregnancy before it ruptures and if it does you can bleed to death. An ultrasound may be in order.

I spotted just as you are doing when I got pregnant with my first child.
A blood test is accurate within the first few days of a missed period. You have missed your period.
Have someone take you to the emergency room, or if you are not convinced call the E.R. and tell them your symptoms with the cramping between your legs, and dizziness (dizziness can be a symptom of your blood pressure dropping due to internal hemmorraging) But if you start to bleed heavily get to the E.R. regardless this is serious. Call an ambulance if you start to bleed heavily.

PLEASE DO NOT DELAY I just did some more research about the ectopic pregnancy and it fits your symptoms too well. That pelvic cramping is what happens before the rupture.Once it ruptures you must have surgery to stop the bleeding. If you get to the E.R you can get an injection of methotrexate to stop the pregnancy before it ruptures.Your HCG levels will rise and fall with an ectopic pregnancy they will fall as you start to miscarry as well.

Please let us know you are alright.

With my second pregnancy I spotted just a little when I should have had a cycle. If your hormone level is too low it might not show up on a urine test.

I agree that you should go to another doctor, ask for a blood test, tell them that you know your body and this is not normal for you.

Maybe its nothing, but if there is a problem I would want to know right away so that I could begin to pray and expect good results. I will say a prayer for you.

In a urine pregnancy test you have to be at least 42 days along for the results to be correct. Your Dr. should have ran a blood pregnancy test and the results will show up immediately. You can spot and still be pregnant. Try calling your Dr. and requesting a blood test, if not then just wait a while longer and retake a urine test. Early pregnancy symptoms, besides a missed period could be: tender, and I mean, tender breasts, frequent urination, fatigue, dizziness, morning sickness(vomiting), mood swings, decreased appetite, at first. Good luck, whatever the results maybe!

Ask them to do the blood test and an u/s to check for an ectopic pregnancy. Sometimes you have to be pushy with doctors, but something definitely isn't right.

And on average it does NOT take 2 or 3 months to find out you are pregnant. I had a positive test 3 days after my missed period. Most people can get a positive the day of, or a few weeks later, but it is VERY rare for it to take more than 1 month.

I'd get a second opinion to be honest. My friend - she never had sex though at the time - had her period normally, but she'd get it less and less - and she'd miss it for like 2 months and she was freaking out - and it turned out her menstral cycle isn't normal - and she'll be lucky if she could have kids. Depends on how old you are - how your body is developing. Good luck. And think about this - a prego test comes from the urine.......you're telling me that Dr. of yours says it could take up to 3 months before urine can show you're prego?? That sounds a lil fishy to me......the whole point of a prego test is with the urine like within that month you missed your period ----i'd get a second opinion.

Did your doctor do a blood test or just test your urine? It sounds to me like a blood test is in order here. If he/she did that, and that came back negative, something may be going on and needs to be looked at (for example a thyroid problem).

My gyno says if you pass a drop you should count it as a period. You could also be psyching yourself out because stress will cause you to not have a period. After six tests report negative I would say that it is highly unlikely that you are. This is one of the reasons that we all jump on everybody and say to use birth control for contraception and condoms for STD's, and use them EVERY time!
