I have been on that shot for about 2 years. Now I want to get pregnant, but i seem to remember my doctor telling me that I will still be protected for something like a year after I stop taking those shots. DOes anyone remember anything like that?

I had the shot about 14 years ago, but I don't recall the residual effects being for so long. A few months, yes. A year, no. As with any type of medicine, after you stop taking it, your body needs time for its effects to clear your system, especially if you've been on it for as long as you have been. Please double check with your doctor before you do begin trying to get pregnant. Your doctor can enlighten you on all the facts that you need. Good luck.

No you are only protected for three months, but it can take up to a year to be able to conceive.

Some women also end up seeing a fertility specialist because of the havoc depo provera treats their bodies.

I've never been on the shot. My sister took the shots about three years ago. It's been two years after she stopped and her periods are really irregular if she even gets them at all...So you are are probably right about what your Doctor said.

the depo-provera shot can delay the return of fertility for up to 12-18 months....or you may be lucky and get pregnant right away...it's a little unpredictable....but be patient...fertility DOES return!
