Yes, I'm an atheist.

A Conservative asked a question about why atheists haven't done anything good for us. Here's a small list of atheists that have contributed to humanity, knowledge, and helped millions along the way.

Most Scientists, biologist, astronomers...are atheists.
Thomas Edison...electricity, light bulb.
Bill Gates...Given billions to charity, after his computer revolution.
Francis Crick...discoverer of the DNA code.
Marie Curie..countless discoveries in physics, and chemistry.
Carl Sagan...The greatest Astronomer of all time.
Lance Armstrong...7 time Tour de France winner.
Warren Buffet...donated 37 billion to charities.
Charles Schul...creator of Peanuts.
Pat Tillman...Gave up NFL career to serve and die for his nation.


Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, Ben Franklin, Mikhail Gorbachev, Mark Twain...ALL ATHEISTS. They've done a lot of good for us!!

There have been evil atheists over time. BUT there have been a lot evil "Christians" and "Muslims" that have harmed far more people.

Let's not forget that much of the best in western civilization today rests on some of the ideas germinated or reformulated during that age of revolution and enlightenment, ideas formulated by Atheists, deists, rationalists and state-church separationists. All of whom, were the founders of this country and the writers of our Constitution. There was a time in our country's beginnings when the Atheists, the deists and the Christians were on the same page. Both wanted a separation of church and state and both believed in the rights of men (and women) to make their own decisions concerning belief. I find it funny that right wing evangelical Christians today want to force the rest of us, including the liberal Christians, to convert to their way of thinking because they are arrogant enough to believe that their way is the ONLY way. Their beliefs are childish, their faith is weak & insecure and they are completely out of step with the philosophy and life of their own Christ.

I'm well aware that many people who have made great contributions to humanity have been atheists.

however, some are as dishonest and biast--and intolerant--ans any right-wing fundie.

These people make jsut as many false claims--including asserting that people who are agnostics (like Ben Franklin, for one) are atheists. And claiming most scientists are atheists--which issimply not true.

Because there is so much knowledge to be had. Most people do not know the information that you have written. I myself, was suprised to know that Bill Gates and Lance Armstrong are Atheist.

I am a Christian and recognize the contributions that atheists have given to the world. Only a fool would point out a group of any kind and state that they have not done anything good.

You are wrong. The Bible calls athiests fools that DO EVIL...not that ONLY do evil. I would agree with the Bible, athiests can do good, but to me it is foolish to not believe in God, and it is also accepting satan by not accepting Christ as your savior. That is evil...But the Bible does not say that you ONLY do evil.

Oh, and check your list...not all on it are/were athiests.
