I have been informed by numerous people in Ontario, that the driving age is being moved to 18 years of age. However, this is not being backed up by anything I have ever read, or seen, either online, or in the Globe and Mail. Therefore, I believe that this is actually a rumor, as opposed to the legislature in Ontario actually changing the law. If however, it were true, we would find out pretty soon, as the people born in 1992, are nearing their 16th birthdays in about another 2 months.

Some states are trying it, but I think a few years down the road they will just see the rate of deaths for 18 to 21 year olds go up! As far as tying the licenses to school drop-outs-- that is wrong thinking. Sounds good, but what you end up with is a drop out who cannot get a job at all in many areas of the country. Not all of us live in areas with public transportation or even cab services, and it is too far to ride a bike to even the nearest town.

There's a lot of pressure to move it to 18. Too many drivers 16-17 years old are getting killed.

Do you mean is it true? In some states it already is. Some it isn't. Some are in the process of changing. Depends which state you're in.

it certainly should be changed because there are too many inexperienced on the roads. They should have more time to learn to become a defensive driver. It'll save sooo many lives.

I have always thought that you should have a high school diploma in order to qualify for a driver's license. It would help the high school drop out rate.
