We dress the way we do, any of us, goth or otherwise, because it's how we feel most comfortable. I happen to look best in dark colors. I love the feel of velvet. I love the whisper and breatheability of silk. I love the sheen of leather and the glisten of silver. All of this makes me feel good.
Also, the way you dress is a way of communicating what kind of person you are to the outside world. If you dress in a way appropriate to who you are, it will be much easier for people lIKE you to find you. That's part of being in a subculture- the knowledge that this is where you belong, and the knowledge that you can always find others who are in your "tribe" so to speak. (it's not about nonconformity at all.)
As for vampire people, if you like the look of vampires enough to actually wear the teeth, the glue in kind cost ten dollars and when you run out of adhesive, you can use the stuff they use for dentures. If you're even more serious, you can spend thirty dollars and get the resin kind that you soften and mold to your teeth so that you don't even need glue. Those stay in much better. if you're even MORE serious, you can get your teeth capped. But if you're a sangiunarian, you might not even bother and probably just use sharps to draw blood.
Anyone, in either the goth or vampire subculture, who wears a sheet to anything other than a toga party, will NEVER live it down.
You wanna see how evil we can be, "say "eww scarry" to someone in real life, sometime.

Basically it's a sterotype put on a group of similar people that others don't understand. neo-Vampires and goths are very different types of people, one is fascinated with bloodletting and vampire lifestyle, the other is fascinated with a clothing style that in theory is an "old-style" involving corsets, top hats, and various other items. Though the two may look very similar, they are very different. It's much like trying to figure out anyone else based on their clothing style, most of the time you get it dead wrong. having been involved in the gothic scene for quite some time I can see where the confusion comes from, but consider myself no part of the "vampire" scene. A lot of people overlap though, which adds to the confusion. All I can say is that people just should judge someone on the way they dress, other then the fact that they are interested in those clothes.

Goth people dress as they do because it's their subculture. They're interested in dark, macabre things, such as fashion, art, music, etc. It has nothing to do with being evil, but rather being fascinated by the subculture. Marilyn Manson isn't Goth, Evanescence isn't Goth, and if you met a REAL Goth, you probably wouldn't know it, and you'd find them to be genuinely nice people.
The "Fake Vampires", they are lame. Seriously, the people who say they're vampires and go around drinking each other's blood have serious mental issues they need to get over. They don't put on capes though, although when they club, they tend to put in fangs and pick up dates at what are called "Blood Bars". I saw an episode of CSI that actually showed that kind of stuff, and it was about accurate of what the "Vampyre" world is like.

ok, every single thing you said was a stereotype pretty much. no, we dont think we're evil, we just like that style. as for the fake vampire people, no, they dont do any of that stuff. learn what goth is before you come on here screeching stereotypes please.
the same could be asked of you...why do YOU dress the way you do? why do YOU do this that or the other thing? because you want to. well, we're human too, and we do things cause we want to...

hey..psst don't tell anyone
there's no such thing as vampires
people are people no need to label them
just because you don't think it's great that doesn't mean other people can't think it's great. I'm glad that people can have the freedom to dress the way they want to. It's one of the best things in the world because if everyone looked the same then it wouldn't be a pretty sight. Everyone has their specific taste that they enjoy.. soo let them be :)
i like originality.. it sparks new ideas and makes u who u are as a person

True. I consider myself as evil and im just a regular guy. Dont dress like a fool. The real vampires are people who get stress releif from cutting themselves and drinking the blood of themselvs or others.

my sister is goth, and i am the complete opposite.. they like to look different.. not everyone likes to shop at hollister [but i do=)], the dont think they look evil, they just feel comfortable in their clothes and in their own skin. and no they dont run around the neighboorhood with a cape and plastic teeth on. have you ever SEEN a goth running around at night with a cape and fake vampire teeth on? i doubt it. they dont want to look like perfect people like alot of us do. they dont care what people think of them, they are just comfortable with their looks and their personality.. i have found that every one of my sisters 'goth' friends, are very nice and caring.. and i would like to make it clear that everybody that emo's cut themselves, not goths.. goths are content to the way they are. and another thing, you cannot say that goths are freaks and all of those other stereotypes about goths, unless they have seen it. hope that helps

Reading your reaction is satisfaction enough to dress Gothic.
Please learn to spell; all people, including vampires, would surely appreciate it.
