who were without their all star forward, Josh Howard and their regular starting center Eric Dampier
Lebron shot 2 out of 11, 6 out of 10 from free throw line...he wasn't injured btw unlike Kobe
5 turnovers, 4 fouls and 10 points in 36 minutes
Drew Gooden had a double double with 12 pts, 10 rebounds
Ilgauskas had 17 pts, 18 rebounds
HECK he even got help on defense
Larry Hughes had 7 steals
HE GOT THE HELP AROUND HIM and still lost
i know its only the first game of hte season and Dallas was a good opponent but man people were crying foul and said it was the end of the world for Kobe after lakers lost in a 2 point game on a lousy missed call by the refs against HOUSTON (who were picked to win the west by several analysts on BSPN)
Go figure

Larry Hughes. That is the key to success for the Cavs this season.
Lebron has been terrible from the charity stripe for quite some time now. He is not a good shooter, and if he had an injured wrist, he would be like 2 for 10 FT. His outside game is not even as polished as Melo's. Melo is the best offensive player from the class of 2003.
Like you said, everyone else did what they normally do. Lebron didn't. Finals hangover, perhaps. (not the case with the Spurs)
The Mavs are the only team in the NBA that I have no problem with if they acquire Kobe (which is a long shot.) Its either the Mavs or the Lakers for me in the West.
But Kobe looks better in Purple and gold.

this didn't come as a surprise. Dallas, i think, more than any other team in the league had been waiting for the season to begin. If it were Phoenix or even Houston, still isn't a surprise. Spurs? Just another game. Maybe even Denver and Utah can pull off the same thing. Top 6 Western teams can do that to the Cavs.... it ain't no surprise at all.
Its simply a matter of choice.... you either load up on James and let his teammates beat you... or single cover make him beat you. Dallas apparently chose the former.

I'v siad it before the Cavs are in a weak confernce If they were in the West. It would make Kobe look goooooooooodddddddd!!!!!!!! But its just the first game jitters. They'll make the playoffs but won't get any deeper

Cavs are sooo overated, they had a lucky run last year in the playoffs. wizards were injured, nets werent at their best, and it was a one man show in the east finals. they played a REAL team tonight. that knows how to play offense AND defense well. mavs will be champs, im calling it right now.

Don't let last year fool you, The Cleveland Cavaliers are average at best in the Eastern Conference. If Lebron doesn't have a big game, they have no choice.
Plus, the Dallas Mavericks are legit title contenders, even while they got upset by my Warriors last year.

why were you surprised? Dallas is one of the top 3 teams in the league (Phx and SA). The cavs are overrated.

lebron is overrated. he's good but not great. and besides, there's nothing on the cavs to make them win against a loaded team like the mavs.
