...beating the drums for war with Iran. Does our government even PRETEND to care about what the people want or think these days?

My point is that it has been proven that we went to war on false pretenses (or "mistakes"). Obviously Americans have lost trust in their government as a result. But it doesn't seem to matter anymore, does it?

A few bozos like Rush Limbaugh might be beating that drum but not "the media". God willing Bush and his administration of war mongers will be out of office in time to prevent another war.

The leader of the U.N. IAEA, ElBaradei, stated clearly that there is no evidence that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons technology, and that U.S. accusations are completely unfounded. Furthermore, he states that belligerent Bush Admin. saber rattling can create a precipice to war where neither side will be able to back down.
Of course, this is the intention of the Bush Admin. To lie and say that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons so often that people will begin to believe it. When we attack Iran, Americans will most certainly believe that Iran has nukes since Bush would never attack a country based upon false pretenses. It's shocking that Bush could commit the exact same crime again of lying us into another illegal war. It's even more shocking that many Americans already seem to be on board.
It no longer surprises me that the media wants WWIII. It sells. And that's all they care about.

Really? I have a question for you. Back in WWII, the polls showed that most Americans wanted to go help GB and France out in Europe and push the Japanese back in the Pacific. So, why, since he was oh so great, did he not listen to what the people wanted? Why did he turn back Jews that wanted into the US that were fleeing the Nazis?

Also, we went to Iraq because of 27 UN violations, and usage of WMDs on many innocent Iraqi civilians. Not to mention photographs that were shown on National TV showing that Saddam was moving something quite large around Iraq.

George W. Bush was so wrong about Iraq that it is hard to imagine he could be right about Iran. We have to ask, however, if we can afford to let Iran off the hook just because we attacked the wrong arabs first.

I think that whatever we do should be done after we get a better President in office. However this one goes about it will be blundering and inept.

As for the media, I have not noticed a perceptible drive to war except on FOX, and we know they are as stupid and doctrinaire as the President. Rational Americans want to avoid a World War.

Uh ...... no . That's the disease. The rest are just symptoms . They aren't comfortabale with democracy in actual practice, don't trust it, & don't trust us.

Just came out today that "Curveball" , the touted source for the WMD info, is an alcoholic college dropout, who made it all up to help his asylum application in Germany . The Germans told us it was likely total bs, but the White House was all too willing to believe.

Yes, our government often pretends. Where exactly is the media "beating the drums for war with Iran"?

Except that Saddam denied having WMD's while Ahmadinejad is bragging about developping them and then using them.

The two items you mention have nothing to do with Iran developing nuclear weapons. So of course the plan will still be to go ahead and take Iran out.
