4 & 2/9 = 38/9
now add 11/18 to both sides:
y - 11/18+ 11/18 = 38/9 +11/18
y = 38/9 +11/18
you now need a common denominator, and 18 is the easiest one to have...
y = 76/18 + 11/18 = 87/18
so y = 87/18
Check:
87/18 - 11/18 = 4 & 2/9
76/18 = 4 & 2/9
38/9 = 4 & 2/9
Since this is true, y = 87/18...
