Can some one give me a good example of personal experience that relates to this quote??? Suggestions and examples welcomed.

“Science is not a dogmatic belief system or an ideology; it is a method of inquiry. In the spirit of inquiry, we can investigate whether phenomena like the sense of being stared at actually exist . . . . If they do we can expand our scientific understanding of the world. If they do not, we have a good reason to dismiss them” (192).

It just says that science is a method of inquiry. For example, all of us experience the feeling of being watched or stared at sometimes, right? Like, you were in a classroom and u get that feeling that u are being stared at by the guy across the room.
So, through scientific inquiry, we can find out whether u are really stared at by that guy or it is just a feeling u r getting. By, studying such things, it says we can increase our overall knowledge and understandings of the world, life, humanity, etc...

Science for some reason is always trying to disprove more than they are are trying to prove. Why is that. Science right now is worried more about keeping evolution alive than they are about people dieing of aids in Africa, could you imagine what would happen if we could take those people who study things like this and their minds to work on cure for aids or cancer, those diseases wouldn't stand a chance, instead they are worried if they can figure out how we know somebody is staring at us.
