First check the water float valve unit and see that it is shutting off when full; see if water has leaked onto electical wiring etc. Unfortunately, the problem probably won't be that simple. Check to see if the compressor will run, and the tubing up near the chiller part gets cold. If thats all right, check the motor/gear drive and auger to see if it is still turning. (I'm presuming this is a flake machine not a cube machine). My guess is that the seals for the lower auger bearing are shot; water has gotten into the bearing untill that is shot also, eventually the auger won't turn any more and it either strips the gear drive, breaks the shear pins, or stalls and/or burns out the the drive motor. When the seal goes, water starts leaking from the base of the chiller unit where the gear drive connects and can lead to further damage. You can replace these parts without having to cut into any refrigeration lines, but it isn't going to be fun. You will be dealing with stuck/rusted-in parts, snap rings in nearly innaccessible locations etc. It is hard to say how many parts will need to be replaced until you get in there.

There are also some timer motors, time-delay relays, various interlocks etc that make sure the different parts of the ice maker fire-up in the correct order, or that one part won't run unless another part is working, so it could be one of those also.

clean around the coils and air flow area.
clean the ice making area with acid designed for it.
probably just needs general maintenance
