there are certain times when most all men realise, that the call is much bigger than themselves and in all selflessness do what needs to be done. And for that, and them, hero's all, i am more than grateful and hold Rememberance Day with high honour. It is for that reason my family is so small. But, in my life time, and against all my wishes and desires, I have learned first and foremost, that soldiers are born, not made. There is nothing more in the world I want, than my boy "not" to become is soldier. But this has been his only goal, and life long obsession, since 3yrs old. In June of next year, my boy will leave for the army, like thousands of mothers before and after me, we will never know how or why, just the fearful dread they may never come home.

Men and Women join the armed forces knowing they could be sent into a war in any country.
Having said that, they have no control on where they will be sent and just obey orders, it comes with the job.
I support them and we buy our poppies every year.
It is a way to help even though I may not necessarily agree with the place or reason for them being where they are.

Put my life on the line for a country filled with Chavs, hooligans and hoodies? You are joking? I don't even have the right to have a smoke in the pub anymore screw you guys. Why should I try to save a government that is so pathetic? If the Germans attacked us and took over now I would be quite happy. Their country is being run much better than ours and maybe their government would sort us out.

LOL!
Which war or "conflict" are you referring to?
They gave their lives because they were DRAFTED!
They gave their lives, because the alternative was to be shot for cowardliness!
As for freedom, not one day has passed since WW1, "The war to end ALL wars", that has not seen some war on this planet!
So would I put my life on the line?
LOL
Maybe for a cause GREATER than the pathetic excuse of looking for invisible weapons of mass destruction!
And for giving a little back.....
My taxes pay for the armed forces, their weapons, their kit and their wages, including the "danger money" they receive!
But I still will donate, "lest we forget".

Why not?
But too old for that.
With creaky legs.
Can't do much.
Just waiting for the Grim Reaper.
But have the answer ready on " Who are you"
With " A ticket to ride" in finding my way home to our creator.
What do you think?

Oh heck no - I'm not brave enough to do what they do daily & I know that. It's the reason why I support & respect them so much. Well, that & all of the flags I've got from my various uncles (WW2 & Korea)
