How do you feel if your mother and wife don't get along?

Why is it that most men don't ever stand up to there mothers and say that the wife is in charge now and the mother can step back a little?

I'm really disheartened by the fact that men don't represent their families like they should anymore.

My wife and mother respected each other, but no love was lost between them. If the husband is an adult, and one must assume that he is if he is in fact married, then he is not bound by his mother's constraints. Nor is he bound by his wife's, though the most important decisions about the relationship should be made in consultation with her. She is not, however, "in charge." You're not trading one boss for another. How ludicrous.

By the way, you're a good man, Pappy! Some people only want to hear what they want to hear, though.

The Ma does it the way the Boy has been used to it his whole life... then suddenly you come along and don't like it.

Tell his Ma that if she wants to scrub the toilettes and change the diapers that's fine with you, but don't she dare do the things you want to be doing yourself. Show her you are head of household. Some people have it, some don't. Now go get your bull whip out and put it on display! Draw up a list of do and don't for her.

Don't expect him to do anything about it, you'll have to do so.

Please don't blame the men. Women are the competitive ones, wanna rip each others hearts out. You seem like one. Men know not to get in between them unless he wants to lose some teeth, skin and hair. For him, diplomacy & keeping the head low is the best way through it all.

"Torn!" Want to stand behind your Wife but at the same time it's hard to confront your Mother most times. Sometimes in our Minds it's not as easy as it sounds to you!

Respect; 95% of the times it's learned while growing up from the Father's miss use of the Mother or Mother's miss use of the Father and now he's taking revenge for for Father. Sometimes it's because he's in a Job he Hates and Takes it out on "The Family".

It's hard, really, but when that happens,
I usually major in the major and minor in the minor. If it really is a major issue. I normally chose the one whose right according to the Law of God. But if both are right and make sense. I would chose my wife over my mom. But in such a way that I would do it GENTLY. I would explain to my mom in a nice way. Just like what the Bible says "Man must leave his parents and cling to his wife..."

it is not just men but women as well. Women also don't stand up to their mothers either.. My wife's mother was driving me nuts until I paid $$$ for their condo in Florida to retire. Some things are worth paying for ...

He needs to grow a set and say something. But you knew that before you married him so you may have to let some of it go. I have stood up to both of my parents and I have friends that do. Its not totally lost and some of us do represent their families.

Because daddy didn't train them right. If a husband still lets mom tell him what to do, its his dads fault. You said it right "men don't represent their families" keep in mind your husband must take lead, You must support your husband.

In Charge? Gee and here I thought a marriage was supposed to be a partnership.....

Basically it's really simple, Wives can be divorced, Mothers are forever. Get used to it.
