There are some rather stunning answers here in this post - and some nonsense too.
Physically, there is in all likelihood nothing wrong with your reproductive system - two doctors and and ultrasound have confirmed that.
What IS a problem is your (excessive?) athletic activity.
What is your BMI? (weight in Kg divided by the square of your height in metres - example, weight 70Kg, height 1.75m: 70/(1.75x1.75) = 70 / 3.0625 = 22.9)
If your BMI is under 19, you are slightly underweight; under 17 and you have a serious problem.
Do you eat sensibly (not paying much attention to calories) or do you feel that when you have eaten, you should exercise to compensate.
If you are doing the latter and you have a low BMI - I am seriously worried that you are anorexic.
Please talk to somebody professional about this because the sooner you tackle the problem, the greater the chance of recovery.
Oh, and don't forget - most GPs do not know much about anorexia - go to a specialist.

OK - your weight seems fairly normal - at least if your not 3'6" or 6'8" !!!
I think you should just put it down to a combination of being a late starter and possibly a sport induced delay.
Sorry if I hammered too hard on the anorexia bit - it is just a very serious concern of mine.

Have you had your parathyroid and thyroid tested? Did you know that this could be a symptom of osteopenia. I am no expert, but my daughter in law has had troubles like yours with very late teen menstruation, and then her cycle was extremely irregular, months without a period, then heavy for a few weeks, then none again for ages. The doctors said it was normal. Well, last year she stumbled and three ribs got fractured. Prior to that she had fractured her ankle and also her hip in another incident. None were serious enough falls to cause any kind of fracture, so I took her to the doctor and asked that since this was odd, since she is only 26, should she get a bone density test done. It was done and that is when osteopenia was discovered. It is an early type of osteoperosis. When you see a doctor don't sit quiet and accept his/her not listening to you. Ask questions, do research on the net, ask them to find out why your hormones are not as they should be. My guess is the hormones are really out of whack, so you need to get more tests. Do not give up with the doctors. Ask what else should they check. Get the bone density test done, it is painless. Get thyroid and parathyroids checked for hormonal imbalances. Things could be all fine and normal, cause some girls really do not menstruate until late teens and even early twenties. If you have concerns, seek more medical advice.

Copy and paste this into your msword, save and then print it. Bring it to your doctor, then you will be able to remember what was suggested to you here and the story which is the reason for the suggestion.

Are you in a hurry to become pregnant? Are you lactose intolerant? I ask this because I have heard and read from the many Women's magazines, which offer expert advice on a variety of topics. One such topic mentioned that females are beginning to start menstruating at a much younger age BECAUSE of all the added hormones that are present in milk and milk by-products.So, I was thinking that you might be lactose intolerant, therefore having such an imbalance within your body may be the cause of you NOT starting to menstruate. In either case, I would follow the direction of my physician, as that may well be the best thing to do.

you will quickly. do not situation. yet genuinely, being 13 and not having it would not not make you a "late bloomer" whilst in comparison with a superb variety of people. some females don't get it until eventually 14, 15, or perhaps sixteen. i understand you're worrying to be grown up and each little thing, yet as quickly as I have been you, i could relish the no-era time! (i'm pregnant now, and relatively enjoying not having my era!)

have u visit an OBGYN? they specialist in this sort of stuff. It is true that once u do get it u wish u never had it. I understand that you want it b/c it is apart of life but just wait and try seeing an OBGYN that way they can find out if there is something wrong "down there", but try not to worry. Stress prevents your cycle too. There could be sooo many reasons, you just have to speak up and say you want those reasons. It is your body.

My aunt did not get hers until she was 22! My mom was even 17...sometimes it is just in your genes. One of my pals had hers at 8, I was at 13, and my best friend was at 18. It really just depends. It likely seems so late because often girls are getting them earlier than they used to. But as long as the doc says things are fine, be glad for the time being. Once it comes, you might not be so thrilled (after the inital jubilation wears off).

You need to see a specialisr because there is something wrong if you have never had your period and you are 18! Find someone that can give you a more concrete answer, okay? Good Luck!

First of all, I'm jealous. You can have mine. :)

Okay, all kidding aside, if you are an athlete or very thin, you may not have a period. A period is your bodies way of saying "okay, you are physically able to have children". If you are not having your period, your body is saying that you, for one reason or another, are not in the condition to carry a fetus. THAT IS NOT TO SAY YOU CANNOT GET PREGNANT.
