I remove myself from negative situations as much as possible and spend as little time as possible with negative people. If it's essential that I spend time with negative people I kill 'em with happiness.

For instance, I worked in a bookstore last Christmas and was surrounded by people who loved to say rude things. If they said something rude to me, I would just smile brightly and say "Oh, Adam, it's so lovely to see your bright, shining face on this glorious winter morning" in my most sing-songy voice. They'd laugh and pretty soon they got the message that I wasn't going to participate in their negative, pessimistic conversations. It actually kind of turned the whole place around.

Hi, You need to chill about work :) Just do your best. Focus on what you really want. I'm a junior in college too, and I find that focusing on school is really hard but you can try to find a way to motivate yourself. For example, make sure your schoolwork is done before you do anything fun. For weight loss, don't forget that it is a combination of diet and exercise! That being said, I think it would be good for you (and fun) to join a sports club or go swimming/ running a few times a week. That way, you are better able to lose weight, and exercise is a great way to reduce stress and negative feelings. That will put you in a better mood and make you feel more motivated to do things. If you can't cut down on sweets, find a way to modify it. Like use calorie-free sugars or drinks. It's really the calories that kill you, I have heard. I have also heard that it's first the carbs that are burned and then the fat, so when you exercise, try to do it for at least 30 min. Do something fun! I found that when I do something out of the ordinary, time seems to pass by slower and puts a new spin on life. When the same things happen all the time, that's when life seems to pass you by. One thing I have found to help my lack of motivation is to imagine exactly the way you want to be, and want it more than anything. You will be much more inclined to go after it that way. Another quick thing-- I have found that meditating before bed to relax is really stress-reducing. Good luck with the Nursing program! :)

Don't watch the news...Media loves to point out all the negative things happening in the world...
If you must stay informed, read the newspaper. There are actually quite a few stories in there that are inspiring and uplifting.
I stay positive by doing my best to see the positive things that happen in everyday life.
The small acts of kindness I witness everyday gives me hope for the future.

You just can't take it seriously..... I stopped taking things so seriously and being so hard on myself. Also, I try to laugh a lot more by doing things that make me happy (like being on here) and can let a lot of things go.

The only way that I've found to stay positive is to remove myself from the not-so-goods if I can. If I can't, then I ignore it by becoming cold, detached, and cruel-minded. My latest attitude is "Whatever, man" or "Later for that" or whatever it needs to be to preserve my delicate balance of sanity.

To keep things in perspective and know yourself. Negativity of others only harms you if you have self doubt. Most people talk a lot of crap anyway, so if you stay neutral and don't feed off them and give them anything negative back, they usually go away.

Shrouding oneself in a cloak of illusions, as most peoples in our society are! TV, entertainments, fashions, all of those are part of an illusory system made to make us believes that the world is a good place to live after all! While in fact we are still surviving, but in a different and more deceptive way.
