I've already tried unistalling the disc thing and re-started the computer and it still does not work, checked for viruses/spyware/etc and nothing.

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

What should I do? Remove the back of the computer and re-connect the thing?

Help please

i assume u are talking about a cd/dvd drive.

did it once work?
assuming it did, u might need to do a repair install of windows to reload the generic driver. of course that might be a problem if the driver isn't loading.

will the system boot from a bootable CD like your windows system disk? there isn't a system or drivers when u install clean so if it boots u know the hardware is working and u can continue with the repair install.

with that error message, the system is seeing something.
the generic windows driver should load for that unless it IS bad.

It could be that what the system is seeing is invalid, which might be a drive fault. Then it could be a loose connector but I doubt it. If it is it won't boot from CD

check the drive light to see if it is doing anything - power up self test. then u know it is getting power. If not either cables or drive.

The driver may not be compatible with your operating system or the cdrom/dvd drive is toast, are you running vista? Need more info.

More than likely you disk drive is or has gone out. Try reading other disk and if they will not read then replace the disk drive.
