Can only start car by pouring gas into carb...will then start perfect and run for as long as there is gas in the tank. Idles perfect also and excelerates perfect also.
Now if the car sits for a few days no gas will squirt out my jet. The accelorator pump is fine and the fuel pump is fine also.
When i get the car started, then let it run for a bit, then shut it down .Then checking the carb it will sqiurt gas .When i check the next day {this is done with out starting the car}...carb still sqiurts gas out my jets, wait five days no gas squirts out .....does that mean my bowl is empty ? is leaking?if so is that something that can be fixed?
thanks

check your fuel pump. If you got a carburetor your pump may be mechanical and located close to the engine. Check your fuel lines, check if there's fuel in the tank, check fuel filter, follow the fuel lines from the carb back to the tank and make sure they're not blocked by anything.

The gas evaporates out of the carb over time, result no fuel in bowl until pumped up there, but it SHOULD take longer than 5 days.

Most likely cause is fuel pump check valve is letting fuel drain back when not running, and NOT pumping fast enough at cranking speed to refill the carb. (cure-replace pump.)
Other causes, fuel line leaks between carb and fuel pump, and/or bowl leaks. Check bowl tightness and look for signs of seepage, (should be none)
Check connections and condition of all fuel lines.

NOTE: Carters have a tendency for the fuel connection point on the carb where the fitting screws into the carb (it holds the filter screen IN the carb), NOT the fuel line connection, to come loose just a little over time, and cause a leak. THIS leak is USUALLY only visible when the engine is running.

Hope this helped

Your gas is draining back to the gas tank after the car sets for a while. There is probably a loose fitting or clamp some where letting air in.

There is a float in the carb and the float lifts a valve. If the valve sticks closed there will be no fuel in the carb to initiate a start.

Sounds like a weak diafram. in the pump. it only has to be the smallest perish not big enough for the eye to see. have you check fuel hoses for weak clamps, the smallest weap and they won't pump gas my 650 holly had this problem and the fuel hoses were'nt tight and kept sucking air.
