My friend was in a high school play. In one of the scenes, she gets slapped pretty hard on her right cheek. The play ran for 2 weeks. For the sake of authenticity, she left the other actress actually slap her. She says that to this day- the play was 2 yrs ago- she sometimes can't hear out of her right ear. Could the repeated slapping have caused permanent damage?

"People also get conductive hearing loss when key parts of the ear — the eardrum, ear canal, or ossicles — are damaged. For example, a tear or hole in the eardrum can interfere with its ability to vibrate properly. Causes of this damage may include inserting an object such as a cotton swab too far into the ear, a sudden explosion or other loud noise, a sudden change in air pressure, a head injury, or repeated ear infections."

If any one had gotten too close to her ear when slapping, they could have caused a change in air pressure which could have caused damage to the inner ear and yes, effected her hearing. She should really talk to a doctor and ask if this could be the cause or if there is something else going on.

WTF? why would she let someone slap her in the first place? Of course there is damage... She should sue the school if they forced her to receive a real blow just for authenticity.
