i just wanna format my c:/ drive and reinstall windows XP sp 2

but whn i goes to delete c:/ partition thn it shows tht - unable to delete partition because it contain temporary setup files which help to compelete windows installation ...
plzz tell me wht to do how to format my c:/ drive and reinstall windows.... plzzz help mee

I have a feeling those other answers won't do it.

this is how I do it.

insert windows cd and boot from cd.
go thru the prompts till you get to the one asking if u want to install windows - yes. - no repair install
the next screen shows drive info.
here you can delete the partition. at this point it doesn't care what is on that partition.
then recreate it.
then tell it to install on that partition and it will ask u how u want it formated. I prefer full NTFS format - not quick.
then follow thru with the install.

If u have other disks on the system or other windows installs on that disk it will find that info so u have to disconnect the other drives or delete the registry data on the other install unless u want to use it - not a clean install.

boot from the cd

then

1. boot up on the XP disks and format the hard drive.
2. Load xp
3. partion C: half size of disk
4. select ?? English
5. select ?? Keyboard
6. delete US keyboard if not US
7. Private leave company blank
8. Admin for first user
9. Skip network

After installed:
1. Identify by looking at the components
a. Chipset
b. Video
c. Sound
d. South Bridge (PCI card management)
e. Download from their manufactures site latest drivers
f. Usually the site is the www. Manufact name.com.tw (Taiwan)
2. Windows Update – Custom
a. Select some drivers but do not overwrite the three a,b,c, drivers from above.
3. set up D: (the other half of the new drive)
4. Move (not copy) my documents to D:
