Tim Rusett asked vice president ,how close are we to wae with Iran.What was his answer?

"RUSSERT: How close are we to war with Iran?

CHENEY: Well, I think we are in the final stages of diplomacy, obviously. We have done virtually everything we can with respect to carrots, if you will. It’s time for squash. Not to mention mushrooms, clouds of them."

However the above was part of a fictional interview that was published in the New York Times as part of an opinion piece by MAUREEN DOWD. The interview didn't happen but the writer obviously wants to point out the similarities with the run up ,to the Iraq war and the lack of credibility of the current vice President
