one_for (below) Every big government, fiscal diasterous, wish-I-were-a-conservative, calling themselves a Republican IS a neo-con. Which accounts for the bulk of the party these days.

Too bad True Conservatives are becoming extinct. They are a much better citizens than neo-cons.

steelmil (below) BINGO! You hit the nail on the head. Rudy is a neo-con, NOT a true conservative.

Neo-Con is not even close to discribing Rudy. Bankrupt America has been around since Revolutionary days bud. Maybe you should ask George Washington how dare he have racked up a National Debt fighting the British. Crack a book and quite listening to the dead head left.

Rudy is a conservative? That's news to me, I am a conservative, and he is far from being one, even though he's trying to look like a conservative now.
Edit: OK, I admit he is really a liberal. The media calls him a moderate, I don't know why.

Guliani's really not that consevative, in fact, he holds some modestly liberal positions, making him something of a 'moderate' by conventional political reckonning.

Moderates of one party are generally willing to make compromises with the other. Those compromises tend to be on the order of - "rather than either spending more money than we can afford on liberal programs or on conservative programs, let's spend more money than we can afford on /each/."

So, yeah, I wouldn't expect to see a lot of fiscal responsibility starting in 2009.

And, while I wouldn't expect good things from a cynical democrat like Clinton, I'd at least expect less borrowing - higher total spending in spite of cutting military and security, as entitlements balloon out of control, yes, but higher taxes to match.
