it depends on the person. yes, i do believe some people have to hit rock bottom before anything changes. change is hard. but, your pretty much left with the decision of "get busy living, or get busy dying". there's no in between.

Absolutely! Some have to hit a really low bottom. Britney Spears has lost so much already but she's not living under the bridge...yet. Some recovered alcoholics were "High Bottom Drunks" others "Low Bottom". Some of the morbidly obese are at death's door beofore they develop the insight they need. The principal of "Tough Love" as presented by James Dobson helps our wayward loved ones reach that point sooner and it works.

Ohh yes I do believe that I still am at rock bottom in so many ways. It is so hard to lift yourself from the depths of much here. Sad isnt it? Yes well even the best fall down sometimes. Not my kind of music but that is one beautiful song and it has such a strong message there.

That a good quote. But with all quotes they have to be used in the right situaution. I do believe that which why im glad you wrote sometimes. And because of that very fact im gonna say I totally agree with you and although I as of yet have had to do that I do know that in the futire this may come about . But the hope I have is that there will be a lifting up at the end of a dangerous road. Thanks for the thought.

Yes in deed my dear woman .... I am living proof of that .....

I was homeless, received frostbite as a result of it. I had 1/2 of my right leg & 1/2 of my left foot amputated on February 1, 2005. I have since stopped drinking & druging, received my GED attended the University of Wisconsin, and remain clean & sober. I do not know of too many bottoms lower then this, and the strength to bounce back and complete a 360 turn-a-bout with their life.

Yes- And they sometimes relapse, too. I hit rock bottom- but, now am clean and sober, have been for 6 years. Work with gals in similar situations. It is a struggle, but, hey, I'm living proof that one can lift themselves out of the rubble of hell they are living and regain their lives again.
Thank GOD- literally, and my Family & Friends who love me unconditionally and without judgement.
GOOD QUESTION!

A "bottom" is the place you must get to sometimes before you say "Enough!" and turn in a better direction. It can be a very lonely place but almost a relief when you finally get it through your head that where you are at is NOT where you wanna stay!

...I have been witness to someone hitting rock bottom and smelting into the rock instead of lifting up...so I don't believe that hitting rock bottom always means a miraculous turn around...

Nah. Most people haven't hit rock bottom. They just think they have. Which can be a good thing.

failing isn't the falling down...its the staying down

rock bottom..no just to a point of no return, when the only way left is up once more though things never become the same, which is the sad part of life, as hard as we try once somethigns changed it enver truly goes back to the way it was...rock bottom i suppose :)
