how to get to a heater core in a 1989 chevy cavalier z24 convertible

There are 2 heater hoses going from your engine compartment thru your firewall...they attach to your heater core.

The heater core is usually behind the glove compartment area of your dash (Or CONSOLE if you want it spelled right)

It's a real pain to get to...Start by looking under the glove box on the passenger side (lay upside down on your head) and see if you can find an easy way to take it apart.

I changed one in a Taurus once and had to take the dash out and they are probably all like that, I mean taking the dash out. I did it with out a manual and I don't care to do it again. I'm sure the manual would have been helpful by telling the steps to take.

get the manual as stated earlier. the heater core is behind the console

Go to the nearest auto parts store and ask for a repair manual for your car. They generally run around $20. It will give you the full procedure with diagrams.
