I dont think there is an accurate answer as to why this happens. I did with my second child but it was in the very beginning of labor. I believe it a way of your body expelling everything in your system before baby comes. I think this because I had a bowel movement on my own and in the bathroom in the beginnings of labor with my first!

I threw up during labor, but then again I threw up all nine months of my pregnancy. I had an epidural, but I don't think that had anything to do with it. I don't think a doctor would give you Zofran for just labor. I never got Zofran even though I barely gained enough weight for my pregnancy.

Many women don't throw up. Maybe you will be one of the many that don't.

nausea and or vomiting is fairly common during labor (usually active labor), but not all women throw up.

If you think that an epidural will help, it may not as that is one of the many side effects of them. They might give you something for the nausea.

At any rate, you probably won't throw up very much - usually once or twice and you're done.

I've given birth several times, and have never thrown up and I've done it natural every time.

No, no. It's not from the "natural child birth." You vomit because the epidural makes you nauseated. Many people have this reaction to anesthesia. (This is why they don't like you to eat during labor and to only have ice chips-- everything might come back up.)

I don't know if they'd allow you to have Zofran. It's annoying, but it's just one of those things. Your modesty goes out the window during birth.

I dry-heaved during transition but did not bring anything up. Maybe because I hadn't eaten anything for about 16 hours at that point. (I labored through the night). I had a natural and unmedicated labor.

Puking is indeed very unpleasant but over in a few seconds, then you will have your next contraction to be thinking about. Yes, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor about suitable medication if you are very worried about this.

I went natural and never threw up during labor. And no one I know has either. I am the only one that didn't have any pain meds at all during labor. Everyone else had some sort of pain medication.

I didn't puke nor did anyone of my family and friends except one. (And she did it with all three of hers which were 4 hours and under long) Its rare but not impossible. It usually happens with people who have very quick intense labours because the body goes into shock. If this is your first baby then it will be even more uncommon to have a short labour.

best of luck, don't worry about the things you cannot control!

I vomited with my first but not with my second....... you will be in way too much pain to be stressing over a little vomit. It will be the least of your worries at the time.
