I am a Brit who now lives in the States and I found it strange at first. There are at least 3 Manchester's (my old home town) here.
Not too strange when you think that the country is made up of immigrants after the native Americans, and many of those are from the UK and Europe.

Mostly on the east coast, when you get to Cali, Az, Nm and Texas many of those towns are named after Mexican towns.

I don't know about that, but I do know that there are more places in the USA named after John Muir, than any other person.

Not sure but it's weird when certain countries get mentioned. I never knew there were 2 Springfields, though.
