Yes and no.

Local authorities can impose restrictions, but outside of those jurisdictions, the state of Wyoming only imposes very LIMITED restrictions... and those only pertain to the "Professional Display" type fireworks.

I've had an ongoing "problem" with a "neighbor" ... about 3 miles away as the raven (no crows in Wyoming) flies... who shoots off the HUGE, EXPENSIVE and VERY NOISY professional fireworks practically anytime he dammned well pleases. I've had to complain often to local AND STATE authorities to get ANY positive response to me. The only thing I can really "get" him on is his LACK of obtaining a PERMIT to discharge the BIGGIES. He has to file a permit AT LEAST 2 WEEKS in advance of when he PLANS to shoot any of them off. I am keeping CLOSE WATCH on those permits filed from now on. I want to KNOW when he's going to blast them off.

Last New Year's Eve, he STARTED booming off at 4:30pm (mind you, it gets dark early in those winter days) and didn't END his blasting until after 11PM!!! Nearly 7 HOURS STRAIGHT of BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!

I also will keep as a backup the "Disturbance of the Peace" ordinance which has 1-no TIME limit... so he can disturb the peace at 7pm as easily as at 11pm... and 2- doesn't specify that the disturbing activity need be an ILLEGAL activity... he can disturb the peace doing something LEGAL.

HE thinks he's "sharing" his celebrations with everyone. Well... not EVERYONE appreciates his "method" of celebrating!

I have always felt fireworks (especially the "personal" ones that most people use) are dangerous, obnoxious, and just downright nasty. On average 2,000 people die or are seriously injured EVERY YEAR by these dammned things, and I do not know WHEN we will WISE UP and get RID of the "personal" ones, and restrict the "Professional" ones to holidays and/or special events ONLY... and get them OUT of the hands of UNprofessionals! Even the professionals die and get injured!

Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

Fireworks are illegal in the state of Maine. Anyone caught with them gets them confiscated and fined. There are some fireworks stores just over the border in New Hampshire, and sometimes they have law enforcement from Maine staking out the stores, calling ahead to cops here in Maine, if Maine residents head home with fireworks from NH.

Yes, but it doesn't stop anybody. This past July 4, the illegal neighborhood displays were almost as good as the official ones - going for a walk I saw among other things a full rack of mortars set up in the middle of the street.

Yep. I live out in the sticks, and even the counties have their own laws and restrictions...it's usually based on the amount of rain received in the past month before the fireworks are to be launched.

Yes-in Los Angele's Country, California-fire danger. I have seen mixed results-"safe and sane" are outlawed-less safe illegal fireworks smuggled over from Mexico and firearms shot into the air and killing innocent persons when the bullet comes back down.

Fireworks are not allowed to be purchased or used here.

However if you go over the state line about 10 miles, you can buy them and bring them back.....and some people do that.

Probably the most ridiculous law ever - In Ohio, you can BUY fireworks inside the state line... there are many shops available. BUT - you have to sign a paper saying that you will not set them off in Ohio.

Someone please explain how THAT makes sense.
