I am not very good at thinking about 3 dimensional concepts for instance I have a hard time taking a 2D drawing or map with contours and thinking about it as a 3 dimensional object or surface. Any tips or ideas to practice or learn to think in 3D?

Try rotating the item in your head, visualizing it from all angles. You can do that with anything--a cup, a sofa, a dog. You first visualize it standing sideways to you, then you rotate it around and in any direction you want.

Try flying in a small airplane- look down
