I am adding two 1 gb rams to my Dimension 4600C.

1. Should I change the power supply?

2.I also want to add an Intel Pentium 4 3.4 Ghz 478 socket processor to it. Should I get a new power supply?

3. if so what should it be and where should I get it.

You don't need to change the power supply just adding more ram and maybe you don't need a new PSU for your P4 3.4 how many watts do you have now? Well in any case 250watts should be plenty to run what your describing. If you plan on adding more later than go for more watts 350 to 450 watts is more than enough.

The extra memory will not use too much power

According to the pictures on the dell website, it is not the size and shape of a standard power supply and was made special for dell, and although other companies may make ones to fit, they would probably be expensive because they are not high production volume universal power supplies.

It depends on your power supply already. The type doesn't matter, only the Wattage. However you havn't told us what your current wattage is so it is hard to tell if you need to change or not.

However for that configuration, I would recommend a 500W power supply. Especially if your using many pci cards and a graphics card.

It depends what you have running now, and what you want to do when everything new is installed, best place to get parts these days is online like TigerDirect or Newegg or you can search prices @ PriceWatch
