It depends entirely on the college that issued the diploma. Harvard, Oxford, Stanford, etc... are teaching online now as are most state universities and some proprietary colleges.

Recent academic research tells us that an online degree from a well respected university has more workplace value than a traditional degree from a "who?" college.

Online delivery of education in many fields is the present state - it then becomes all about the reputation of the school and not whether it's online or classroom.

Now, the "real/well paying jobs" tend to be medicine and law -- there are no legitimate online degrees preparing physicians or attorneys (there is an exception for those in California).
