One of my friends was jumped; stabbed several times in the chest and leg, because she's bisexual.

Another friend of mine was told that his father will disown him if he "decides" to be gay.

A Wikipedia article once stated that "they should be burned at the stake," within the Bisexuality article.

In most areas, gays are called names, beaten up, and treated as if they're "less" than everyone else.

Most gay people I know are constantly lectured, and told they're going to Hell.

So, please--tell me; WHY THE HELL would someone "choose" to be gay!?

That's what I'm saying.

It's NOT A CHOICE.

And yet, on a daily basis, I'm told I'm making the "wrong" "choice" because I'm open to dating girls.

Hate crimes. Tsk, tsk.

It's not a choice for most of us. It never was a choice. Who would want that on our lives? It just is. That's the only explanation I can offer you because It just is. I never chose to be a lesbian...

But I choose to live the way I want to live my life - as I am. Because I don't ever want to live a lie and throw my self away just like that...

Anyway, take care. ;)

well I'll take this one grouping at a time:

Your friend was jumped and stabbed because those people that did it do not agree with alternate sexualities and rather than being intelligent about it and trying to prove that what they believe is right they wanted to go to the extreme and kill or attempt to kill her. What they did was wrong I personally think that the alternate sexualities are wrong also but I don't go trying to kill people that are gay or bi in fact I have family who is gay and we just agree to disagree and she doesn't bring girlfriends around me and I don't tell her my opinions on the gay lifestyle and we get along fine.

many parents diown their children if they come out. Many parents hope that by doing so it will let the kid know that if they are gay they will not be supported in that lifestyle choice. Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying being gay is a chioce but to live the homosexual lifestyle is a choice just as being straight was a choice for me. I chose to date women and get married to a woman.

I'd like to see that article I will try to look it up after this.

This is because as a society we feel that the alternate lifestyles are wrong and shouldn't be accepted.

the only people that lecture about gays going to hell are people who are religious and if gays aren't religious then they don't have to worry about going to that person's hell.

haveing gay urges doesn't make someone gay acting on them does and the urges aren't something the person chooses the actions are, so I don't know why someone would choose that.

Besides, if you "choose" to be gay, then you evidently must've already had gay impulses. So the whole issue is retarded (no offense to the retarded).

The choice thing is just a way to pretend it's an "abberant behavior" so that they can hate it without being mere bigots, which of course they are. But hey, I'm gay, and I even get along in real life with people who believe these kinds of things in theory. So there's a disconnect somewhere, and it's not with me...lol.

PS and yeah, like if you're open to dating girls, that just means it's "natural" for you. It's nobody else's damn business. The only wrong decision is the one that actually hurts somebody...unless you're into that kind of thing. ;)

Oh my I am so sorry. I don't understand intolerance. I have a friend who died because he was gay. It is horrible that this happens and we must stop it from further harm. Being gay isn't a option. You either are LGB or not. It isn't something that can be turned on and off.

people are ignorant and they 'choose' to ignore the readily available information that's out there. It had been 'taboo' for soo long that it has jsut taken a even longer time to be 'studied'. We all choose what we ignore and that is your why. I support you and I am so sorry about your friends. Best wishes and hugs.. :-)

Nobody chooses to be gay or lesbian. Just like you described, people wouldn't choose to be gay or lesbian if they know about or had to endure through such bad times. People don't choose their sexuality anymore than they would choose their birth parents. It's a natural thing to be gay or lesbian. Even if it was a choice, which I believe not to be the case, people should still be treated with kindness and respect.

Exactly. no one chooses to live a lifestyle that may get them attacked or disowned. It is not a choice. I have always been this way and will always be this way.

some embrace it.
but others think im going to hit on them and excetera.
and then others think it's a choice.
i think it's both a choice and nature.
i made a CHOICE to act on my NATURE of liking both sexes.
