I am currently a Senior and wanted to know what options I have for college. I have struggled in high school do to some personal reasons and I have a 2.5/4.0 GPA with a 1790 SAT score. I have taken some AP classes and I plan to take the SAT again.

Can I still attend a good 4-year university, if so do you know of some that I can apply and get into? BTW, I live in Texas and would like to stay in-state.

Thanks

Yes! Go on line to each university, their requirements will be on the website, in each department's pages. Often you can start with an "undeclared" major with slightly lower GPAs. Then you do well for your freshman year, and declare a major with your higher grades. That's IF you need a higher GPA for your major. Often you do not need the higher GPA, so be sure ask at the departments you are interested in.

You should be applying for college by the end of December, and for student loans by January if you want to start next fall. Get on their websites, pronto!

I don't know the admissions standards in Texas but you may have to try a year or two at a junior or community college to prove yourself, then transfer to a 4 year school. That SAT score is fair but if you can improve your score it will help your cause. Check with admissions counselors at some Texas schools to get the real scoop.
