Things I wish had made into the movies:
HP1: They kinda covered this one well - though it's the worst movie of the lot
HP2: Deathday party
HP3: Percy the HB(head boy or humongous bighead); Ron and Harry cooking up death omens for Trelawney's homework
HP4: Rita Skeeter's article abt Hagrid's giant blood, and the trio and Dumbledore talking him out of his isolation. Plus the blast-ended skrewts; Winky; SPEW
HP5: "Weasley is our King"; Ginny's growing role - she was given more footage from previous movies, but nothing compared to the books. "Give her hell from us, Peeves!"

There's so much I miss from the later films. The ghosts, mostly. I really think it was a mistake to not include Harry's conversation with Nearly Headless Nick in Order Of The Phoenix, when Nick explains that Sirius isn't coming back. And what happened to Sirius' mirror? Was that in the film? I don't remember it. That proves to be VERY important in Deathly Hallows.

Also, the omision of Dobby in Phoenix also may make his scene in Hallows less emotional.

This is why I think Potter should be made into a tv series, with each season covering one book. That way, you could cover everything, pretty much the way she wrote it. Granted, season one would be the shortest season, but so what?

The baron and Peeves only contribute a very minor part to the story at the beginning. If the movies contained every single bit of story that JKR wrote, they'd be 10 times as long, would have cost half a billion dollars to make, and would have cost you $50 to get in to see it.

The realities of financial and time constraints meant that a lot of the material in the book had to get left out. JKR knew that, and she kept an eye on material that was going to be edited out of the movies as the screen plays were developed, so that the script writers didn't delete something that she knew would be needed later on. For example, a couple of scenes of Dobby and Kreecher were not going to be included in the latest movie, but she said, "Put them in". They were key bits of info that featured in later books.

So many things, Harry and Cho's date, Quidditch in the latest movie, Peeves, Binns is sort of pointless admittedly, Dumbledore sucks, etc. etc. etc.

I missed Dobby and Winky in the fourth movie -- Goblet of Fire. Of course including them would have added a lot to the production cost.
