I have a trial date but I need to change it do to unforseen things and have a doctors excuse but the judge has denied it. Is this legal?

Yes, the judge has the discretion to decide whether your reason is good enough to change the trial date. He thinks not.

The court has complete discretion over trial and court date settings. What may be important to you may not be to the court.

If you don't have an attorney, now is the time to get one. That alone will get you a continuance so you can have time to consult and prepare.

You didn't mention what the excuse was. For the court to buy it, you had better be at deaths door, active labor or getting a heart transplant. Other than that, a lawyer is your only hope.

Yes. It's legal. The judge can make whatever decision he or she wants to. If he or she thought it was a valid excuse, they would have delayed it.

If you don't show, a warrant can be issued for your arrest.
