Well if he will be twice as old as you are now in six years then you use the systems of equations:
b= brother
a= you
b=4a
b+6=2a
isolate "a" on the bottom:
(b+6)/2=a
substitute
b=4(b+6)/2
simplify:
b=2b +12
subtract 2b from both sides:
-b=12
or, b=-12
then put in "b" for b= 4a
-12=4a
solve for "a"
a= -3
so, neither of you would have been born and since this makes no sense were going to assume you meant that he would be twice as old as you will be in six years.
so, the equations:
b=4a
b+6=2(a+6)
and after substituting like before we get:
b=12
and
a=3
so you're brother is 12.

He is 12 years old now. In 6 years, he will be 18 and you will be 9 which means that he is twice as old as you.

this is hypothetical right? casue the only solution i could think of is that you would be 3 and he would be 12, 3 is obviously 1/4 of 12 and in 6 years you would be 9 and he would be 18 and that would be twice your age
